Changes in memory, thinking, or behaviour can be confusing and distressing for both older adults and their families. Many families struggle to understand what is part of normal aging and what may indicate cognitive decline.

This support may include:
Understanding common dementia-related changes

Learning what families may expect over time

All guidance is non-medical and advisory and is designed to support families in making informed decisions alongside their healthcare providers.
Changes in behaviour such as agitation, aggression, restlessness, wandering, sleep disruption, or anxiety are common in people living with dementia. These behaviours are often expressions of unmet needs, confusion, or stress rather than intentional actions.

This guidance may include:
Understanding triggers and patterns behind behaviours
Practical communication strategies
Person-centred approaches to reduce agitation and distress
Environmental and routine-based adjustments
Strategies to support sleep, comfort, and emotional well-being
Coaching for caregivers on responding calmly and safely
All strategies are educational and advisory and are not a substitute for medical assessment, diagnosis, or treatment.

I am an international medical graduate with over 30 years of experience as a family physician and general practitioner, including more than 12 years working in psychiatry hospitals and mental health facilities. My background includes extensive work with seniors and adults living with physical limitations, memory impairment, dementia, and other cognitive challenges.
For many years, I served as a permanent member of interdisciplinary teams involved in designing and implementing comprehensive management and support plans for seniors in need. I also have over 12 years of experience teaching and training students across medical, nursing, and midwifery programs, helping them develop practical skills and a compassionate approach to care.

I also assist caregivers in understanding the responses, reactions, and behavioural changes that often arise in seniors with cognitive or functional decline. I provide practical, respectful strategies to help families manage difficult situations with confidence and compassion.
